Two members of the Orillia Channel Cats Swim Club recently competed at the Speedo Eastern Canadian Championships at Laval University in Quebec.

Swimmers had to meet the Eastern National standard in order to attend.

Taryn Fenton, 18, and Sam Pecorella, 14, qualified for and competed at Easterns.

Sam raced in the 100-metre backstroke, in the 14-to-16-year age category. He performed a personal best time and was fourth overall out of the 14-year-old male swimmers.

Taryn also had a big personal best time in the 50-metre butterfly, dropping .74 seconds, moved from 48th to 21st spot, was first alternate and ended up being put in the B final and placed 17th overall.

Both swimmers work very hard at applying technical changes and doing the work in order to improve.
