LETTER: There is nothing wrong with using speed cameras

People should respect the laws or spend their time working to change those they don't agree with, says letter writer

There have been recently a number of articles on vandalism, cost, etc. on speed cameras. The latest one was written by James Culic and published trough the Village Report.

The impression created by all of these articles is that speed cameras are a cash-grab, not fair, and should not be used. I suggest that this is a wrong view of speed cameras and is based on the current public attitude that speeding is acceptable and the norm in this province.

I submit that speeding is illegal same as it is illegal to shoplift and vandalize properties. Hence law-abiding citizens should spend their time and energy to change the laws where they do not agree with the speed limits instead of working on avoiding roads with cameras or vandalizing cameras.

Furthermore, if they do not succeed in having the law changed they should respect the law and not complain about the people who go about enforcing the laws of the country.
