Adopt Me: Leia the Great Dane mix (adopted)

She would love to live in a home with a large fenced yard and perhaps some older kids to play with

OrilliaMatters, in partnership with the SPCA Orillia Animal Centre, brings you a regular feature highlighting a special pet that is in need of adoption.

Hey there, my name is Leia and I am a three-and-a-half-year-old Great Dane mix. I am a sweet girl who loves attention and loves playing with toys. I am a bit shy to make friends at first, but over time I become more comfortable and love spending time with all humans. I love to run and play outside, and would love to live in a home with a large fenced yard and perhaps some older kids to play with.

Coming in to the Orillia Animal Centre, I was a bit nervous. But I soon realized that everyone here just wants to take care of me and I am so excited to see them every day. Because of my size I need to wear a harness when I go on walks. It helps me control my strength and I walk so much easier.

I know lots of commands and listen very well, especially when there are treats involved. I am a very happy girl, and I am so excited to find my new forever home!

I used to live in a home with some feline friends and we got along really well. I also like to make friends with other canines; we would just have to meet first to make sure we want to live together.

I would really like to find a family who has experience with large breeds and who has a lot of time, patience and attention to give to me. I would love to meet with you today an talk about adoption opportunities. I’ll be waiting on the adoption floor at the SPCA Orillia Animal Centre.
