WATCH: Seven more health units permitted to enter Stage 2 of reopening

This would permit restaurants, hair salons and malls to reopen in regions that have been excluded from moving forward to Stage 2 as of Friday

Update:

Premier Doug Ford has announced that the following regions will be permitted to enter Stage 2 of reopening:

 Durham, Hamilton, York, Halton, Niagara, Sarnia-Lambton County and Haldimand-Norfolk

Toronto, Peel and Windsor-Essex will remain in Stage 1.

These regions are in addition to the 24 public health regions that entered Stage 2 on June 12, 2020. Before opening, business owners need to review the workplace safety guidelines and public health advice.

Premier Doug Ford is expected to announce today if the Toronto-area will be permitted to move ahead to Stage 2 of the province's reopening plan at 1:00 p.m. at Queen's Park.

This would permit restaurants, hair salons and malls to reopen in regions that have been excluded from moving forward to Stage 2 as of Friday.

He will be joined by Christine Elliott, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health, Rod Phillips, Minister of Finance, Vic Fedeli, Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade, and Lisa MacLeod, Minister of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture Industries, to make the announcement.
