Premier Doug Ford announced today that the Ontario government to will spend $2.6B in highway projects this year.
In a press conference this afternoon, Ford said that these projects will get Ontarians back to work while also improving infrastructure on highways across the province.
He cited the following projects as recipients of the funding:
- Widening Highway 3 between Essex and Leamington (Two lanes to four lanes)
- 401 London to TIlbury (Four lanes to six lanes)
- Twinning Garden City Skyway QEW going into St. Catharines
Ford also announced today that Kingsville and Leamington would move into Stage 2 as of 12:01 a.m. tomorrow morning.
This means that all regions in Ontario are now in Stage 2 of the province's reopening plan.
Ontario Premier Doug Ford will make an announcement at Queen's Park at 1:00 p.m. today.
The premier has been making almost daily announcements since the pandemic began, although they have since been less targeted on the province’s response to COVID-19.
Ford will be joined by Deputy Premier and Minister of Health Christine Elliott, Minister of Transportation Caroline Mulroney and Associate Minister of Transportation (GTA) Kinga Surma to make the announcement.
