ORILLIA OPERA HOUSE

The Orillia Opera House, in conjunction with Victoria Yeh, presents the Aaron Davis concert live on Sept. 19, 2020 at 7:30 p.m. The concert will be the second part of the Travel by Sound six-part virtual series spanning across the BruceGreySimcoe region and will be the only concert featuring a live audience.

Aaron Davis is a celebrated composer, arranger and keyboardist, and the winner of three Gemini Awards and two Juno Awards. He is a founding member of the Holly Cole Trio and serves as music director for singer Measha Brueggergosman. This show will feature Aaron’s instrumental compositions, inspired by his influences in jazz, blues, Celtic, Afro-Caribbean, South Indian and classical.

“COVID-19 has made it difficult to demonstrate the beauty and originality of what Orillia has to offer,” said Mayor Steve Clarke. “The Travel by Sound concert series will provide an opportunity to visit Orillia virtually and learn about what makes Orillia so unique while experiencing Juno award winning music from celebrated artists.”

Featuring: Ian De Souza (bass), John Johnson (winds), Kevin Breit (guitar) and Aaron Davis (piano) with guest Victoria Yeh (violin).

Travel by Sound is the creation of Victoria Yeh, electric violinist and artistic director, that combines world-renowned artists and bold adventures. The virtual series runs monthly from September 2020 to February 2021 and features live music, behind the scenes footage and artist interviews and virtual adventures through the hidden corners of the BruceGreySimcoe region — in this case the Orillia area.

“The past number of months have been a roller-coaster for us all, at work, at home, and in our hearts. My refuge has been, and always will be, my art and my music,” said Yeh. “So, I've created the Travel by Sound virtual series to reach out and connect with you, my community, to share my music and my joy with you.”

Tickets for the live Aaron Davis concert are on sale now. Tickets are $40 and are limited to 50 people. Seating will be arranged in household clusters, with each cluster situated at least two metres apart.
