Community Builders Awards: Local group of young leaders recognized for connecting the community through sustainability efforts

The first-ever Young Leader Award goes to the Sustainable Orillia Youth Council for creating a space where young individuals have a voice in the future of our community

Sustainable Orillia Youth Council is an inspiring group of young leaders who are committed to environmental action and local sustainability efforts.

With the goal of empowering youth in Orillia, the council facilitates collaboration among students from different schools, amplifying the impact of youth-led environmental projects.

The group offers webinars to students to learn about our impact on the environment and the dangers of pollution and plastics.

Through these efforts, the group aims to spark new-found interest, or build existing interest, in climate action initiatives and provide a platform for young individuals to engage and discuss environmental activism together.

By connecting with local schools, educating others and implementing positive change, the group paves the way for youth leaders to have a voice towards local sustainability.

The Young Leader Award is presented to an individual or group under the age of 25 who is actively involved in worthwhile community service and shows a commitment to making the community a better place for others.

Congratulations to the team at Sustainable Orillia Youth Council!

This award is proudly sponsored by Orillia Home Hardware Building Centre.
