Orillia Museum of Art & History Virtual Speaker Series

Wednesday, January 19, 2022 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM

OMAH History Speaker Series welcomes local historian Dave Town. He will tell the long-forgotten story of how Chief Yellowhead of Rama, at a Great Meeting held in 1846 in Orillia, stood defiant in doing what was right for his tribe, by voting against policies which would ‘save’ the Indians. A big part of the plan was the first residential schools in Canada. Joins us via Zoom. To register and receive a link to the talk call Monica at 326 2159 or email visitors@orilliamuseum.org Admission is free, donations to OMAH are appreciated.
