The husband of Bradford's third COVID-19 case has just tested positive for the virus.

Bradford mother Julie Ann Lingan is still in the ICU at Southlake Regional Health Centre after being diagnosed March 17. She reported to the hospital with a fever and shortness of breath.

Her husband, Mark, was experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, and was assessed by his family doctor and being advised to self-isolate at home, Lingan's mother Marvie Alday said.

"I talked to him this morning and his voice sounds better compared to yesterday," said Alday.

According to Alday, her daughter still has a high fever in the 40s, but the oxygen level on her ventilator has been brought down and she is no longer on medication to increase blood pressure.

"COVID-19 is triggering the blood pressure, (the virus) makes it low so the doctors have to give medication for her blood pressure to be normal," explained Alday.

She said discontinuing the medication is a "good sign of some improvement."

Alday noted that her daughter does not have any pre-existing conditions, had not travelled anywhere recently and was not in contact with anyone known to have the virus.

The couple's young twins tested negative for the virus, and are currently staying with their aunt.

"The twins are active with an appetite," said Malday. She has been sending them homemade cheesecakes as per their request.

The family continues to ask the community for prayers at this time.

"Prayer is powerful," said Alday.

The Bradford Mammas Facebook group is also still collecting monetary donations to help support the family during this time. Anyone looking to help can contact [email protected]
