Eight new COVID-19 cases confirmed in Simcoe County today

Health unit has reported 825 cases to date in Simcoe/Muskoka; More than 700 are listed as recovered, while 38 people have died

The region's health unit has confirmed 10 new cases of COVID-19 in Simcoe County and Muskoka today. 

There are eight new cases in Simcoe County. 

Two of today's cases are Wasaga Beach residents – one male between 65 and 79 years old, and one female between 45 and 64 years old. The transmission source for both cases is under investigation. There have been three new cases in Wasaga Beach reported since Saturday.

A Collingwood case reported last week has been removed from the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit list of cases and transferred to a different health unit. 

There are also two new cases in Barrie. Both are men, and one is between 18 and 34 years old and one is between 35 and 44 years old. The transmission source is listed as under investigation.

A Bradford West Gwillimbury woman between 18 and 34 years old is also among the new cases reported in Simcoe County today. Hers is a close contact transmission case. The health unit has also transferred one previously reported case from Barrie to Bradford after closer investigation.

The remaining three Simcoe cases include a Penetanguishene man between 18 and 34 years old, a New Tecumseth man between 35 and 44 years old, and an Adjala-Tosorontio man between 18 and 34 years old. The transmission source for all three cases is under investigation.

There are two new cases in Muskoka, including a Muskoka Lakes man between 18 and 34 years old (close contact) and a Huntsville man between 18 and 34 years old (under investigation). 

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has reported a total of 825 cases of COVID-19, with 778 of those in Simcoe County. There are now 702 cases listed as recovered. There is one person from Barrie hospitalized in Simcoe County with COVID-19. Thirty-eight people have died.

The health unit indicates there are 77 unrecovered cases in Simcoe County.
