NEWS RELEASE
KEMPENFEST
*************************
Kempenfest presented by RBC, is Barrie's marquee event and will be celebrating a bit differently this year, but we will be celebrating! Kempenfest (Barrie) Inc. is grateful to be a part of such a fantastic community and we hope you will join us all weekend long.

Tune in to our facebook page to listen to live music, learn how to dance, hear from local artisans and our opening ceremonies at 6 p.m. tonight. Kempenfest online events are happening from July 31 - Aug. 3, 2020. Some of our wonderful sponsors are back including Paul Sadlon Motors, who is inviting you to stop by say hello in support of Kempenfest.

"We are ready to celebrate and look forward to showcasing local talent, artisans, antique dealers and our local partners. Kempenfest is all about kinship in times like this. It is more important than ever to come together, stand united and be resilient. We cannot do this alone; we all need each other," states Louise Jackson, General Manager.

Visit the Kempenfest website shop from local vendors, listen to musicians who will be live streaming all weekend long on the RBC virtual stage presented by OLG.

While enjoying all the festivities we are asking for your support by making a donation to help support the festival's future and the six community groups who are directly impacted by the cancellation of the 2020 event. Kempenfest is a major fundraiser for Kiwanis Club of Barrie, Rotary Club of Barrie, The Optimist Club of Barrie, Barrie Chamber of Commerce, The Knights of Columbus, and the Barrie Art Club. Any donation of any amount will help.

The public is already stepping up to show their support, and the weekend has not even started yet. OLG confirmed that they would be supporting Kempenfest in 2020 as they know the economic impact festivals like this have in their communities,

"OLG has a long history of supporting festivals that bring people together and strengthen communities, and that's especially important now more than ever. It is all part of OLG's commitment to make Ontario better. We have been a proud sponsor of Kempenfest for 18 years and are pleased to be continuing the celebrations in 2020." Jennifer Barban, Director, Community Programs, OLG

Communities across Canada need to come together, and now is the time for collaboration and working together to showcase art and culture any way we can. The future of the festival and event industry depends on it.
