No new COVID-19 cases reported in region this morning

There are eight more confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ontario today, though none are from the Simcoe-Muskoka District Health Unit’s coverage area.

Since Thursday, March 12, there have been three cases in Simcoe-Muskoka, one in Barrie, one in Bradford, and another was hospitalized at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, but is from Alberta. The latter two cases were reported Sunday. Another case was reported on Saturday in an indivdual who is a member of the Beaver Valley Ski Club.

So far, the cases are reported to be travel-related, according to the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit.

There was one more case reported today in York Region out of the Southlake Regional Health Centre in Newmarket. Ontario Health is reporting the case is related to travel to Costa Rica. The individual, a male in his 60s, is self-isolating at home.

The total number of cases for Ontario has now reached 185 with five reported recoveries.

The province reports confirmed cases at 10:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. every day.
