Orillia man is city's first confirmed COVID-19 case this month

A fifth resident has died at Simcoe Manor long-term care home; In all there are 11 new cases of COVID-19 in Simcoe County today

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has confirmed 11 new cases of COVID-19 in Simcoe County today, and has confirmed one more resident of Simcoe Manor, a long-term care facility in Beeton, has died. 

There is a new case in Orillia today, which is the first case reported in the city this month. The Orillia case is a man between 45 and 64 years old, and the transmission source is under investigation, notes the health unit.

There is also one person hopitalized in Orillia, at Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, as a result of the coronavirus.

There are four new Barrie cases reported today including a woman between 18 and 34 whose transmission was by close contact, a woman between 45 and 64 years old whose case was community-acquired, a woman between 45 and 64 years old, and a boy under 18. The latter two case transmissions remain under investigation. 

There is one new community-acquired case in Innisfil, where a man between 45 and 64 has tested positive for the coronavirus. 

The health unit reports two "close contact" cases in Penetanguishene: a girl under 18 and a woman between 35 and 44 years old. 

There is one New Tecumseth case listed, a woman between 45 and 64 years old, but the transmission source for her case remains under investigation.

The final case reported today is a Bradford West Gwillimbury man between 65 and 79 years old whose case transmission is under investigation.

The health unit reported two cases previously reported from Wasaga Beach and one case previously reported from Bradford have been moved to a different health unit.

According to the county's last update, 37 residents and 22 staff have tested positive for COVID-19 at Simcoe Manor and five residents have died since the outbreak began at the facility. 

The health unit has listed one new resident case today, a woman over 80 years old who is living at Simcoe Manor.

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has reported a total of 1,108 cases of COVID-19, with 1,037 of those in Simcoe County. There are now 932 cases listed as recovered. There are 137 active cases in the region, and five people are currently hospitalized The health unit has recorded 43 deaths.

The incidence rate for Simcoe-Muskoka region is 186 cases per 100,000 people.

There have been 22 school-related cases reported in Simcoe County to date, and yesterday the health unit confirmed Simcoe County's first daycare case at a Barrie daycare
