Sixty-five days ago it was just an idea.

A few short days later it had become a patent-pending PPE design and after just 35 days, the first Shield-U Face Shield headband part was robotically picked from an injection moulding machine at Molded Precision Components, in Oro-Medonte.

May 26 was the latest landmark day for the team at Molded Precision Components – the 1 millionth face shield headband being produced.

Impressive as that is in just 65 days it is just the beginning!

With more tooling coming on line in a matter of days, MPC continues to ramp up production to service both federal and provincial contracts that have been awarded to them under joint venture with J Sterling Industries, a medical device manufacturer in Concord, Ont.

By the end of June, MPC and Sterling will be producing over 450,000 PPE Shields per day.

“Our amazing team was able to pull off multiple tasks that seemed impossible,” said David Yeaman, co-owner and president, “and in doing so have been able to equip the first million frontline workers with a medically-approved PPE face shield. We are all so proud of what has been achieved and our future is looking extremely strong.”
