Province reports 92 new COVID-19 cases, one death today

There are 92 new, confirmed cases of COVID-19 today in the province, according to the Public Health Ontario statistics released this morning.

Of today's reported new cases, 38 are individuals between the ages of 20 and 39, and four are over the age of 80. 

Toronto Public Health reported the highest increase today with 30 new cases of COVID, while Peel Region reported 17.

There have been a total of 40,459 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ontario reported to date. Of those, 36,772 have been resolved.

There was also one death related to the coronavirus in the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 2,788 since the onset of the pandemic.

Across Ontario, more than 30,100 people were tested for COVID-19 yesterday. That brings the total number of tests conducted in the province to 2,528,403.

As of today, there are just 41 patients in Ontario who are hospitalized as a result of COVID-19. Among them, 17 are in intensive care units, while nine are currently needing a ventilator to breathe.

As of yesterday, Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has reported 670 cases of COVID-19 to date, with 638 of those cases located in Simcoe County.

There are 622 cases now recovered and 37 people have died in the region. 

There are still 11 active cases in the county including residents from Barrie (4), Orillia (1), New Tecumseth (2), Innisfil (2), Essa (1), and Ramara (1). There is one active case in Muskoka. One person from New Tecumseth is hospitalized with COVID-19.

In Simcoe-Muskoka, the incidence rate for the coronavirus is 112.7 cases per 100,000 people in the population.
