Seven new COVID cases confirmed in Simcoe County today

The region's health unit has confirmed seven new COVID cases in Simcoe County residents today. 

There is one new case in Collingwood - a man between the ages of 18 and 34 years old. The transmission cause is under investigation. 

Five of today's cases are Barrie residents, including one girl under 18 years old. There are also two men between 18 and 34 years old, and two men between 45 and 64 years old – all from Barrie. One of the 18-34-year old men was identified as a close contact, the remaining case transmissions are under investigation. 

The final case reported by the health unit today is an Innisfil man between 65 and 79 years old. The transmission source for his case is still under investigation. 

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has reported a total of 842 cases of COVID-19, with 785 of those in Simcoe County. There are now 714 cases listed as recovered. There are no hospitalizations reported on the health unit website. Thirty-eight people have died.

The health unit indicates there are 72 unrecovered cases in Simcoe County, and 87 active cases in the region.
