Three new Orillia COVID cases among 77 in region since Friday

All three new cases are linked to close contact and involve two men and one woman of varying ages

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has reported 77 new cases of COVID-19 since Friday, 75 of which are Simcoe County residents.

There are three new cases in Orillia today; all are linked to close contact. The new cases include a man between 18 and 34 years old, and a woman and a man between 45 and 64 years old. 

There are 18 new cases reported in Barrie today, including two women and seven men between 18 and 34 years old, three women between 35 and 44 years old, two women and a man between 45 and 64 years old, and two women between 65 and 79 years old. The transmission sources for those 17 cases includes two close contact cases, three community-acquired cases, and the rest are still under investigation.

The last case reported in Barrie is a man between 35 and 44 years old whose case is attributed to an educational setting outbreak. 

There are 15 new cases in Bradford including two women between 18 and 34 years old, a woman and a man between 35 and 44 years old, and a woman and a man between 45 and 64 years old – the transmission source is under investigation for all six of those cases.

There is one Bradford woman between 18 and 34 on the list whose case is linked to a workplace outbreak out of the region.  Two more cases a man between 35 and 44 years old and a woman between 45 and 64 years old – are linked to institutional outbreaks outside of the region. A Bradford man between 35 and 44 years old has also tested positive and his case is linked to a congregate setting outbreak (like a group home or a shelter) within the region. The congregate setting outbreak is unspecified. 

The remaining five Bradford West Gwillimbury cases include a man between 18 and 34 years old (community-acquired), and two women and two men between 45 and 64 (two close contact and two community-acquired). 

There are eight new cases in Springwater, including two boys under 18 (close contact), two women between 18 and 34 years old (under investigation and close contact), and three women and a man between 45 and 64 years old (two close contact, two under investigation). 

There are six new cases in Innisfil, including a man and a woman between 18 and 34 years old (close contact and under investigation), two women and a man between 45 and 64 years old (under investigation and two close contact), and a man over the age of 80 years old (close contact). 

There are two cases in Tiny Township today – a man between 45 and 64 years old and a man over 80 years old, both are linked to close contact. 

There are also two new cases in Tay Township today, including a girl under 18 years old (close contact) and a man between 45 and 64 years old (under investigation). 

In Essa, there are four new cases including two boys under 18 years old, a man between 18 and 34 years old, and a man over the age of 80 years old. The youth cases are still under investigation and the other two cases are linked to close contact. 

There are 13 new cases in New Tecumseth today, including three girls and a boy under 18 years old, two women and three men between 18 and 34 years old, a woman and two men between 45 and 64 years old and a woman between 65 and 79 years old. The case transmissions reported include five close contact, two community-acquired and the rest are still under investigation. 

Among the new cases reported today is one Collingwood resident, a woman between 65 and 79 years old whose case transmission is still under investigation. 

There are also new cases in Clearview Township and Wasaga Beach today. A Clearview boy under 18 has tested positive for the virus. The transmission source is still under investigation for this case. A Wasaga Beach man between 65 and 79 years old has also tested positive. His case is reported as community-acquired.

The final Simcoe County case reported today is a man between 45 and 64 years old from Adjala-Tosorontio. The transmission source for his case is still under investigation. 

There are two new cases in Muskoka District today, including a boy under 18 from Gravenhurst (close contact), and a woman between 65 and 79 years old from Lake of Bays (under investigation). 

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has reported a total of 1,912 cases of COVID-19, with 1,821 of those in Simcoe County. There are 1,612 cases listed as recovered in the region. Sixteen people are currently hospitalized, all are Simcoe County residents. The health unit has confirmed 52 deaths since March.

The incidence rate for Simcoe County is 345 cases per 100,000 people.

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit enters the province's orange restrictions tomorrow.
