The Ontario Ministry of Health website is reporting two more confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Simcoe-Muskoka region.

One of the cases is listed as hospitalized, and the other is at home in self-isolation.

The numbers were updated on the Ontario site moments ago. There were more than 40 new cases confirmed in the last 24 hours in the province.

Simcoe-Muskoka District Health Unit has not yet released information on those in the area who have tested positive. The Ontario site only lists them as positive cases from Simcoe-Muskoka, all other information including gender, age, and how the virus was contracted is listed as pending.

This brings the number of locally confirmed cases up to three, with the first coming out of Barrie.

At a news conference Thursday afternoon (March 12), Dr. Charles Gardner, the health unit's medical officer of health, announced that a Barrie man in his 40s was the first positive case of COVID-19 in the region, and it is believed he contracted the virus due to travel in Germany.

There has also been another confirmed case in a member of Beaver Valley Ski Club.
