OrilliaMatters has received the following letter praising local naturalist Bob Bowles and his three-day eco-venture at Algonquin Park:

I was so delighted to read your recent article about the life and work of Master Naturalist Bob Bowles. This past weekend we had a most wonderful time with Bob and a small but knowledgeable group of nature lovers in Algonquin Park.

Three long days in sunny cold to warmer temperatures were spent identifying in detail 13 species of conifer, searching for new birds for our life lists, plants and mammals various. What a time.

The thoroughness in the preparation and planning were amazing. Bob, with the delightful Lakehead student, Patrick, made us so aware of the need for everyone to take notice that trees are still being taken daily from this beautiful Provincial Park

The year-long Outdoor Logging Museum is a must-see as you see the grueling history of very early pioneers who needed shelter, food and water to survive and settle in a virgin forest.

A stimulating, lengthy discussion, over a delicious supper at Adventure Lodge Whitney, made it possible for us to share our thoughts about "Sustainable Logging Practices." We have many insect, bird, plant, and animal species to protect.

Naturalists love to hike in wooded trails to see rare species, enjoy canoeing on the many lakes. We cannot ignore the important effect on our physical and mental health. Learn to find ways to treasure our depleted forests.
