On Friday, Jan. 18, the People's Party of Canada (PPC) was officially registered by Elections Canada. That means contributions to the PPC are now eligible for a tax credit.

At 3 p.m. Friday, Maxime Bernier, PPC Leader and Founder, used email to announce a fund-raising campaign. By mid-afternoon Saturday, contributions exceeded $72,000.

Amazed and delighted, Max asked, “Can we reach $100,000 before Sunday evening?” It took only two hours to reach $103,000.

Sixteen hours later, at 8:34 a.m. Sunday,  $160,000 had been raised. By 6 p.m. the total was $220,000 and climbing. Finally, some positive excitement in Canadian politics!

This first PPC weekend fund-raiser demonstrates the existence of many committed Canadian believers - willing to put their money where their mouths are, in support of 'Mad Max'.

There’s lots of excitement and hope among the Canadians that listened, absorbed, and support the common-sense platform that Maxime Bernier preached as he made many presentations in every province on his quest for leadership of the Conservative Party of Canada – oddly, best received in Alberta!

We need a Canada with a strong, well-equipped military; wise provincial leaders working and trading freely together; a tax system which will bring industry and business back to employ Canadians, and governors that will support and encourage Canadians to be strongly independent, proudly managing their own affairs with dramatic reductions in interference by government bureaucracy in most aspects of our lives.

I hope Max Bernier will get the chance. It may well be “an historic day for Canada.
