A new five-lane road in West Orillia underlines the disparity between two sides of the city, says letter writer.

OrilliaMatters received the following letter from Konrad Brenner about the city's budget deliberations, which wrapped up recently.

Orillia city council recently approved the 2019 budget which provides for the construction of a five-lane road in West Orillia.

This will be an other symbol of the City with two faces.

West Orillia, the home of drive-to-box-stores, hustle and rush life style, growth for the sake of growth, and the younger set.

East of the great divide, on the other hand, are the walk-to-stores, the churches , the social services and people who have time to talk to each other.

This dual character of the city will provide a challenge for the planners for the foreseeable future.
