Tex Robert Jr., of River Ridge, La., was one of the vendors at last summer's Rib Fest at Tudhope Park.

OrilliaMatters received the following letter from Rick Fraracci in response to Nov. 20 story, 'Neighbours’ complaint sparks debate about future of Rib Fest.'

I cannot understand why we would toss away $6,082, which is the amount paid by the Rib Fest organizers to the city for the use of Tudhope Park, especially when there is no funding request made by them. They appear to be self sufficient and well organized and the event is enjoyed by many.

If a similar noise complaint was received about the Mariposa Folk Festival would it even make the council agenda? I would hope not and if so discussion, I would think, would be very limited.

This Rib Fest is now established in Orillia and is a venue many people look forward to.

Closing the doors on them only sends the message “not in my back yard” and also discourages others to even consider Orillia for future events.

Let’s face it, we have limited industry other than tourism as this has now become our bread and butter. Do not reject money and entertainment desperately needed for our community.
