Regarding the reconstruction of Front Street in downtown Orillia:

On Saturday, July 13, my husband and I drove through the construction zone on Front Street from Elgin to Colborne Street.  I have some issues about this drive.

I have degenerating disks in my neck and wear a brace while traveling in the car.  Imagine the shock and discomfort I experienced while traveling this part of the road.

I have never experienced a roadway so hazardous as this section of Front Street.

Upon my return home, I was in extreme pain and sought treatment through physiotherapy.

We did not see any warning signs telling us the road ahead was extremely rough and full of huge pot-holes etc.

It was pouring rain and every pothole/hole was filled with water and gave no indication of how extensive each hole was.

Given the horrible state of the road, it should have been closed to traffic or at least maintained to a level of safe travel.

Cars in front of us breached the sidewalk with the passenger tire.

And as you fully know, the houses on Front Street in that area are very close to the sidewalk, which put them in possible jeopardy of damage as these vehicles rocked back and forth and could have lost control

Leaving the road in this type of disrepair suggests a disregard for pedestrians, property (including potential damage to vehicles), those home owners who must travel this road daily, and visitors to the town.

It is beyond comprehension that you would leave your town open to lawsuits or claims of injury and property damage by leaving a main-roadway in such dismal conditions.
