LETTER: Stigma of distrust of politicians well-earned

Many of these politicians and their minions seem to be forgetting why they were elected,' laments frustrated letter writer

OrilliaMatters welcomes letters to the editor ([email protected]). The following letter from Ray Kopylciw is about politicians.

I have often pondered over many years as to what our world would be like without the blunders, corruption, the stupidity, the lying, the manipulation, the greed, the lack of transparency, the lack of common sense, (what seems to be biased conflict of interest findings) in many cases, the irresponsible decisions made by our and the many world politicians who have made this world more unstable as it is now.

From the lowest to the highest levels of politics, there has been and still is this stigma of distrust that hovers over many of these so-called elected representatives of the people. Most of us have seen it and heard about these unethical situations over the decades and historical centuries in politics.

Seems not much has changed or is willing to change in the way politicians answer to the people that voted for them. Many of these politicians and their minions seem to be forgetting why they were elected or appointed in the first place. There are the few who still try to do a good job.

It seems many politicians make promises that they had no intention or had no capability to keep.....just to get elected. Have the electorate citizens become so docile, gullible over the years that they can't see through the many years of political smog and stench along with corruption?

These promised political offerings that some "in it for themselves" politicians make while in their electioneering campaign or elected modes had not materialized on many occasions.

It seems that many voters have shorter than short memories or maybe have they all given up?

Maybe many of us look at elections with a mere "who cares anymore" attitude that makes more sense to them considering its always the same ... no matter who gets elected. This maybe is giving rise to useless wannabe politicians flooding the political arena.

There is a need for a few good decisive transparent political leaders out there to stand up and make themselves noticed more but not as tyrants or dictatorial types who hide and scheme behind closed cabinet doors or council chambers.

They keep saying we are all in it together, but just looking at what's been going on in this world of some incompetent politicians and their politics, they certainly have made a mess of almost everything from putting people at risk and putting more wedges between not only our citizens but also between the rest of our world populations.
