LETTER: Tents don't belong on Orillia beaches, resident says

The beach is not a campground and is too small for tents, laments letter writer frustrated with council's recent decision to allow tents in parks

We have a teeny-tiny beach which is already overcrowded. How does tent allowance make things better?

The beach is for people who enjoy some sunshine, some fresh air, some swimming and for children to have space to build sand castles.

When someone puts up a tent you feel like you need to keep your distance so as to not encroach on their privacy and they are taking up extra space which is selfish on an already crowded beach.

The beach is not a campground. There is NOT enough space for tents.

If you want shade, use the pavilion, or find a bench under a tree. If you want to camp, find a campground. If you want to sleep, stay home.

Let’s do what is best for the majority of people who want to enjoy the beach.
