LETTER: Vaccine passport is an unselfish strategy, citizen says

'If someone feels that they don’t want to carry a passport, that is their decision ... but like getting the vaccine, get over yourself and start thinking of others,' says letter writer

In response to the letter on the need for vaccines....I heartily agree.

On the issue of having a passport or a document that is accepted internationally and nationally as proof of vaccination, there has been much debate.

Sadly, Canada may once again be behind other nations as we bow to the minority who think this would be discriminatory. The discrimination will apply to those Canadians who will wish to travel, both internationally and domestically, IF you don’t have a “passport”. No proof, no entry.

Royal Caribbean has announced that all passengers will need proof to board one of their ships; Qantas is calling on the Australian government and other airlines to impose passports on passengers; the EU has a number of its members agreeing to impose passports on those travelling in Europe.

I suspect that once the Atlantic bubble decides to open to domestic travellers, that they may include vaccine passports in their new protocols.

If someone feels that they don’t want to carry a passport, that is their decision.....but like getting the vaccine, get over yourself and start thinking of others. This should apply to all inbound travellers to Canada as well. No proof, no entry.
