I understand that prices have risen due to various causes: war in Ukraine, COVID, gas prices skyrocketing, etc.

However, I witness weekly, when grocery shopping, not only incredible weekly increases on the same items that I buy but, something that I call "gimmicky." It appears that all the grocery stores are doing it.

If you buy one item you are being penalized. On some items, if you buy only one you are expected to pay over a dollar more than if you buy two items. This is penalizing people who live alone, seniors, and needy people especially. Sometimes they want you to buy three items at a lower price per item.

Giving the exorbitant profits that the grocery businesses are making I find this the face of greed!

When the items are perishables, one person cannot use two items during the week without wasting food. But the grocery corporations don't care. Although they have acquired their wealth from us over the years, they do not hesitate to exploit us in our time of need.

Where is the government that would not allow price gouging during the pandemic?! What can be done?
