10 new COVID cases reported today at Simcoe County schools

There are 10 new COVID-19 cases being reported in Simcoe County schools since Friday.

In Barrie, there is one new case at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic School, and one classroom closure. There has been a new outbreak declared at The Good Shepherd Catholic School with one new case as of this weekend. This adds to three active cases and two classroom closures previously reported at the Cloughley Drive school.

La Source Elementary School, also in south-end Barrie, is reporting one positive case in a student. Their reporting does not indicate whether a classroom is closed as a result of this case.

In Collingwood, there are two new cases being reported at St. Mary's Catholic School. Two classrooms are closed as a result of these cases.

In Bradford, there is one new case at St. Teresa of Calcutta Catholic School. There is also one new case being reported at St. Marie of the Incarnation Catholic School. This adds to two cases and one classroom closure previously reported at the school.

There are also three new cases being reported at St. Angela Merici Catholic School, and two new classroom closures. This adds to one case and classroom closure previously reported at that school.

The Simcoe County District School Board has not updated its reporting since Thursday. Calls to public board officials were not returned by publication time.

In total, there are four Simcoe County schools that have active outbreaks declared by the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit: The Good Shepherd Catholic School in Barrie, W.H. Day Public School in Bradford, Boyne River Public School in Alliston and Holy Trinity Catholic High School in Bradford.

According to the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit, an outbreak is declared at a school when student and/or staff have confirmed COVID-19 cases that can be linked to the educational setting.

As of April 5 at the Simcoe County District School Board, there are currently 28 active COVID-19 cases (board has not updated reporting since April 1):

  • One case at Alcona Glen Elementary School in Innisfil, with one classroom closed
  • One case at Honourable Earl Rowe Public School in Bradford
  • One case at Willow Landing Elementary School in Barrie
  • One case at Goodfellow Public School in Innisfil
  • One case at James Keating Elementary School in Penetanguishene
  • One case at Tosorontio Central Public School in Everett
  • Two cases at W.H. Day Elementary School in Bradford, with one classroom closed, outbreak declared Mar. 31
  • Three cases at Georgian Bay District Secondary School in Midland, with two classroom closed
  • One case at Nantyr Shores Secondary School in Innisfil
  • One case at Fieldcrest Elementary School in Bradford
  • Three cases at Fred C. Cook Elementary School in Bradford with two classrooms closed
  • Four cases at Boyne River Public School in Alliston, with three classrooms closed
  • One case at Severn Shores Public School in Cumberland Beach, with one classroom closed
  • Three cases at Steele Street Public School in Barrie, with three classrooms closed
  • Two cases at Banting Memorial High School in Alliston, with one classroom closed
  • One case at Twin Lakes Secondary School in Orillia, with one classroom closed
  • One case at Ferndale Woods Elementary School in Barrie, with one classroom closed

At the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board, there are currently 24 active COVID-19 cases:

  • One case at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic School in Barrie, one classroom closure, reported Apr. 4
  • Two cases at St. Mary's Catholic School in Collingwood, two classroom closures, reported Apr. 4
  • One case at St. Teresa of Calcutta Catholic School in Bradford, no classroom closures, reported Apr. 1
  • One case at Saint Gabriel the Archangel Catholic School in Barrie, reported on Apr. 1
  • Three cases at St. Marie of the Incarnation Catholic School in Bradford, one classroom closure, reported on Apr. 1
  • Four cases at St. Angela Merici Catholic School in Bradford, three classroom closure, reported on Apr. 3
  • One case at Monsignor Lee Catholic School in Orillia, reported on Mar. 28
  • One case at Foley Catholic School in Brechin, no classrooms closed, reported on Mar. 24
  • One case at Monsignor J.E. Ronan Catholic School in Beeton, no classrooms closed, reported on Mar. 24
  • Two cases at Sacred Heart Catholic School in Midland, one classroom closed, reported on Mar. 24
  • Four cases at The Good Shepherd Catholic School in Barrie, two classrooms closed, reported on Mar. 28, outbreak declared Mar. 29
  • Holy Cross Catholic School in Innisfil has two cases, reported on Mar. 28
  • Holy Trinity Catholic High School in Bradford has one case, with one classroom closure, reported on Mar. 22, outbreak declared Mar. 2

ÉSC Nouvelle-Alliance in Barrie has one case, reported on Mar. 24.

Notre-Dame-de-la-Huronie Catholic Elementary School in Collingwood has one case and one classroom closure, reported on Mar. 28.

La Source Elementary School in Barrie is reporting one positive case in a student.

The health unit will contact those who are considered to have had high-risk exposure to a known case of COVID-19.
