Jerry Leger, Kenny Roby and Orillia native Shawn William Clarke will all be performing at St. Paul’s Centre on Saturday, Aug. 18. Doors open at 7 p.m. and admission is $20 at the door.

Kenny Roby is a founding member of the Raleigh North Carolina Band, 6 String Drag, very influential members of the early Americana scene. Jerry Leger met Kenny in 2008 through a mutual friend, mastering engineer Jeff Carroll, who mastered Jerry’s second album, Farewell Ghost Town.

Jerry says, “I met Jeff through Don Kerr, co-producer of that album (with Tim Bovaconti). Over the next couple of years Kenny and I played some shows together in North Carolina. I love Kenny’s tunes and I’m happy that he’s making it back up to Canada after many years.”

Jerry Leger is coming up to Orillia on a high note after an extremely successful month-long European tour in the spring, which included shows in the Netherlands, Germany, Sweden, and the UK, and laudatory reviews throughout the area during that time.

Leger has also just completed a tour of western Canada, and a trip back to Europe is in the cards in the fall. His latest release, the Polaris long-listed Nonsense and Heartache, is a two-record set showcasing the two major musical sides of him.

“One of the best songwriters I’ve heard in quite some time.” Ron Sexsmith.

Kenny Roby embarked on a solo career in 1998, releasing three excellent and vastly different albums to critical acclaim. His most recent album is Memories & Birds as well as 6 String Drag's Top of The World, recently featured in Rolling Stone.

Shawn William Clarke is an indie folk songwriter, twice nominated as Songwriter of the Year in NOW magazine’s Best of Toronto poll. His recent release, TOPAZ, was inspired by 80’s Gordon Lightfoot, Kenny Buttrey’s drumming on Neil Young’s Harvest and the existential dilemmas we faced in 2016.

“Shawn’s music contains two things that I love: space and simplicity," said Craig Norris of CBC Radio. "Nothing is overplayed, it’s wonderfully subtle and understated. And the simplicity reveals itself in immediately identifiable themes and accessible songs.”

Don’t miss these amazing singer/songwriters, all in one place, right in Orillia. See you there!
