Letter-writing campaign for human rights is ongoing

On Human Rights Day, Dec. 10, the Orillia group of Amnesty International raised the flag at the Orillia Opera House.

An open event followed at St. Paul’s Centre, where people wrote letters in support of persecuted and imprisoned individuals worldwide. Cards were also written to give encouragement and support to victims and their families.

This international campaign known as Write for Rights has had concrete results over the years in freeing and protecting the rights of people everywhere. Letter writing for human rights causes continues throughout the year. Interested? Call 705-327-1933.
