Kenneth Beatty and Mona Gibson of Barrie have that “6/49 feeling” after winning the Lotto 6/49 jackpot worth $25,127,625.50 in the Jan. 8, 2020 draw. Kenneth and Mona matched all six numbers to win the prize. They also won an additional $2 on their Encore selection, bringing their total winnings to $25,127,627.50.

Kenneth discovered their win using the OLG Lottery App. “I had to check six times, and then I had my wife check too,” he said, while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up their cheque.

The married couple hasn’t yet made plans for the future.

“It feels great – like this is a new chapter in life,” they concluded.

Lotto 6/49 players in Ontario have won over $12.9 billion in prizes since 1982, including 1,388 jackpot wins and 315 guaranteed $1 million prize draws. Lotto 6/49 is $3 per play and draws take place on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

The winning ticket was purchased at Shoppers Drug Mart on Essa Road in Barrie.
