NEWS RELEASE
CITY OF ORILLIA
*************************
Orillia residents are allowed to park within the boulevard year-round, but there are a few rules that need to be followed. The boulevard is the space on the driveway between the sidewalk and the roadway.

In order to maintain safe sight lines for drivers and to not interfere with winter operations, the vehicle in the boulevard must be at least 1.5 metres back from the sidewalk and at least 1.5 metres back from the roadway. Illustrations are provided below:

“The City of Orillia wants to provide residents with the opportunity to use their driveway to its full capacity for parking; however, parking within the boulevard cannot interfere with sightlines for drivers and the ability for staff to carry out winter operations such as sidewalk clearing and snow plowing,” said Wesley Cyr, Manager of Engineering and Transportation.

Council approved a by-law amendment to allow parking in the boulevard in June 2018.
