A person has suffered "life-threatening" injuries in a "major collision" that occurred earlier this afternoon.
Orillia OPP report the two-vehicle crash occured at the intersection of Plum Point Road and Highway 12 in Ramara Township at about 1:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
"It appears two vehicles were involved, but I can't provide details right now as the collision is currently being investigated," OPP Const. Martin Hill told OrilliaMatters from the accident scene.
He confirmed, however, that one patient was taken via ambulance to Orillia's Soldiers' Memorial Hospital with "life-threatening injuries."
He said it appears the accident was a "T-bone collision" but that will only be confirmed via investigation by the OPP's technical collision investigators which were not yet on scene as of 2:15 p.m.
"They are on their way and I suspect the road will be closed for at least a couple of hours, but it could be significantly longer," said Hill.
Hill said Highway 12 is currently closed in both directions at Plum Point Road.
"Please take alternate routes to avoid the collision as emergency services continue to investigate and tend to injured parties," Hill said.
We will provide more details when they become available.
