Candidates recommended to fill hospital board vacancies

The Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital (OSMH) Board of Directors has released their list of recommended candidates to fill the four anticipated vacancies on the board this summer.

The recommendation will be considered by the hospital’s corporate members at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) on June 25, 2019.

The four candidates recommended by the Nominating Committee and approved by the Board are:

Mario Benedetto* -

Mr. Benedetto joined the Board in 2017 on a two-year term that expires at the 2019 AGM.   Mr. Benedetto has extensive project management and business development skills with more than 30 years of progressive experience with organizations such as Canadian National Railways, Fowler Construction, Ontario Northland Transportation Commission, and Baseline Construction and Project Management. Mr. Benedetto is a resident of Bracebridge and is being recommended for a 3-year term.

 

John Mattinson* -

Mr. Mattinson joined the Board midway through 2016 on a term that expires at the 2019 AGM.  He is highly respected for his 30 year career with Orillia Power Corporation, from which he retired as President in 2011.  Mr. Mattinson previously contributed ten years as a member of the OSMH Foundation Board, where he served as Vice-Chair for 7 years.  Mr. Mattinson is a resident of Severn and is being recommended for a 3-year term.   

 

Sheila Marner -                                                                                                                                                              

Ms. Marner is a recently retired senior executive of Apotex Inc., where she had been employed for the past 35 years.  Her roles with the company included VP-Global New Product Launch, and VP-BioClinical Development.  She currently sits on the Board of Directors of Dress for Success – Orillia and Barrie.  Ms. Marner is a resident of Orillia and is being recommended for a 3-year term.     

Krista McKenzie* -                                                                                                                         

Ms. McKenzie joined the Board in 2016 on a three-year term that expires at the 2019 AGM.  She is a lawyer with over 12 years of experience and holds a Master of Laws in Business Law from York University. Ms. McKenzie leads her own firm, and is certified by the Law Society of Ontario as a Specialist in Construction Law. Ms. McKenzie is a resident of Orillia and is being recommended for a 3-year term.
