SIMCOE MUSKOKA CATHOLIC DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD

Kindergarten registration is officially open for children turning 4 in 2023. The Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board (SMCDSB) estimates that it will welcome 1,500 new Kindergarten students into its 42 Catholic elementary school in September.
“It’s certainly an exciting time for both parents and children,” said Maria Hardie, board chair. “We know that our four and five-year-olds are ready to make new friends, participate in engaging learning activities, and embrace new routines in a school environment. Registering for Kindergarten is the first step in what will hopefully be a lifelong love of learning new things.”
"I am so pleased and excited to welcome our youngest learners to Catholic education at SMCDSB," said Frances Bagley, director of education. "We are all looking forward to busy and vibrant Kindergarten classrooms in September, and our teaching teams are ready to embrace and foster each student’s God-given abilities.”

Students who turn four in 2023 are eligible to attend Junior Kindergarten beginning in September 2023. SMCDSB's Kindergarten program, which is led by a Kindergarten teacher and designated early childhood educator, provides students with a full-day, play-based learning experience that prepares them for their next stage in learning. The teaching team encourages independence, fosters responsibility, nurtures self-esteem, and instills Gospel values in order to develop a solid foundation for learning and growth.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to contact their local Catholic school or visit the website for Kindergarten resources and registration information.
