The Board of Trustees for the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board is excited to announce the appointment of Frances Bagley as the new Director of Education.

Bagley comes to the Board with over 30 years of education and leadership experience, most recently as the Associate Director of Education: Strategic Leadership for York Catholic District School Board.

“For the past three months we were blessed to have Catherine McCullough as our interim director of education while we completed a comprehensive recruitment process to find our permanent director of education,” said Joe Zerdin, Board Chair.

“Today, on behalf of my colleagues on the Board, we welcome Frances Bagley to our team. We have every confidence that her strong strategic leadership skills, experience and commitment to collaboration, will serve our system very well in the years ahead.”

“I feel honoured and privileged to begin my new role with the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board and I look forward to working collaboratively with the Board of Trustees, staff, students, families and parishes to provide a rich faith-filled learning and working environment for our school and board office communities,” said Frances Bagley, Director of Education.

“One of my key areas of focus will be serving the students entrusted to our care through community engagement opportunities that focus on student achievement, well-being and success," said Bagley.

“Maintaining and enhancing strong connections with our various stakeholders is more important now than ever as we continue to navigate our teaching and learning practices in the COVID-19 environment," said Bagley.

"I know there are many opportunities and challenges ahead and I will continue to model my faith and be a strong advocate for Catholic education as I embark on this journey with the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic community. I know that the collaborative work of many minds, hands and hearts will continue to guide us in a proactive, innovative and supportive manner.”

Bagley will begin in her new role on Nov. 1, 2020.
