Cedar Place, at 6048 Cedar Lane in Rama First Nation, is hosting an Art Camp Day with Rob Henry on Aug. 23 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Henry is Ojibway from Saugeen First Nation, who has been creating amazing works of art since 1996. The self-taught artist uses his culture and teachings as his foundations, also symbolizing his interpretation of his life journey.

Learn techniques while creating your very own beautiful piece of art. Bring your own paints and brushes if you have them. However, some will be provided as well as a canvas, or bring your own.

Musician D'Arcy Good (daughter of the Good Brothers) will be joining us to inspire our creative energy to flow with her melodies and acoustics. D'Arcy is a long-time friend of Cedar Place, where she returned to heal from her addictions and use her music to process her pain from that journey. D'Arcy currently resides in Richmond Hill.

The fee is $75, with lunch included.

To register, send a message through the event’s Facebook page and include your name and contact info; email money transfer to [email protected] or pay on arrival.

What to bring: lawn chair, bug spray, sun tan lotion and bathing suit for a dip in the beautiful Lake Couchiching.

It's Rama Pow Wow weekend, so rough camping is available for an additional price of $75 for the weekend, Friday-Sunday.
