Charges have been dismissed against a 21-year-old area man in connection with a Westmount Drive stabbing last July.

Andrew Franklin had been charged with accessory after the fact to murder in relation to the July 30 murder of 25-year-old Jordan Carter-Bonfield near an Orillia doughnut shop.

But the charge against Franklin was withdrawn at the Crown’s request.

Franklin, who was 20 at the time of his arrest, was charged a day after Carter-Bonfield’s murder and remained in custody until Oct. 15 when he was released on a $43,000 surety.

While Franklin has been cleared, three other Orillia men and a Pickering youth are awaiting trial in connection with the incident.

Donnie Johnson, 44, Miles Mathias, 33, and 25-year-old Zachary Jones-Sheperd are charged with conspiracy to commit an indictable offence in connection with the stabbing death while a 17-year-old boy, whose name is protected under the youth criminal justice act, faces a charge of second-degree murder.
