This is one of the new, original pieces of art that is part of the pop-up exhibition, Beyond the Horizon, from artist Craig Mainprize.

Local artist Craig Mainprize will be hosting the opening reception for his solo pop-up exhibit, Beyond the Horizon, Wednesday, Dec. 5 from 7 to 10 p.m.

This is the second pop-up show of new paintings the artist has done this year (the first was in April). The exhibit will be at 177 Mississaga St. E., across from The Brownstone.

“It’s an exciting time in this neighbourhood,” said Mainprize, who said excitement is building as work continues on the Couchiching Brewery and Matchedash Lofts developments.

Mainprize said there will be more than 20 new paintings for sale in the exhibition.

“It will be a great opportunity for Orillians to take in and, possibly, purchase vibrant new local art while they enjoy the holiday season and shopping.”

After opening night, the pop-up exhibit will be open Dec. 5-9 and Dec. 12-16. On weekdays, the store will be open from 7 to 10 p.m; on weekends, it will be open from noon to 4 p.m.
