CBC hopes a fun-loving Orillia family is ready for its close-up.

A Toronto-based casting company is searching for families from Orillia, Barrie, Grey-Bruce, Muskoka, Collingwood, Peterborough and three western Ontario cities who might have what it takes to be cast for Season 2 of the network’s program, Back In Time for Dinner.

“We are looking for a fun-loving, adventurous, winter-loving family with two or more children between the ages of 13 and 21,” show casting producer Heather Muir wrote in an email.

“They must be Canadian citizens and/or permanent residents. They must own their home in Ontario.”

Families interested in being transported back in time and checking out another era, whether it’s the big-hair 1980s or the greased-back 1950s, must submit an application that includes a 60- to 90-second video.

The video should include an introduction with each member stating his or her name and age as well as mentioning two favourite family activities and two favourite family meals.

As well, families should describe what they hope to get out of the experience and finish with a family motto as a way to try to describe one’s family.

While the video will be the casting team’s first impression, families are welcome to be creative or simply use the tried-and-true, point-and-shoot method.

“To apply, you need a recent family photo and a video that you can easily shoot with your phone,” Muir said.

“We are encouraging families to take the time to apply this weekend as the deadline (Friday, Oct. 26) is fast approaching.”

Families chosen for the spotlight must also be available during the winter months, when shooting will take place.
