Volunteers are the backbone of any community.
Earlier this week, that was evident once again as dozens of local citizens volunteered to fill vacancies or continue to serve on various civic committees.
"As a member of the selection panel, I once again want to commend the citizens of Orillia who have put their names forward to serve on boards and committees," said Coun. Ted Emond.
"It's really heartening and quite exciting when you sit down with a full array of resumes to review and look at the excellent credentials of those who in our community are (committing to) volunteer service. Thank you."
He also noted several committees still have openings if anyone is interested in serving.
