Driver suffers life-threatening injuries in Ramara collision

The Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are still investigating a serious motor vehicle collision which happened on Highway 12 near Brechin in the Township of Ramara last weekend.

On Saturday at approximately 5:20 p.m., a small car travelling on Highway 12 near Brechin struck a motor home. The driver of the car, a 42-year-old man from Scarborough, was transported to a Toronto area hospital via Air Ornge with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the motor home, a 71-year-old Peterborough man, was transported to Orillia Soldiers' Memorial Hospital by County of Simcoe Paramedic Services (CSPS) with minor injuries.

The OPP Central Region Traffic Incident Management Team (TIME) was called out to investigate the collision. The highway was closed for several hours while investigators completed their work.

Ramara Fire, Rama Emergency Medical Services, Durham Emergency Medical Services, CSPS and Air Ornge each had an important role in this call for service.

The Scarborough man remains in hospital with life-threatening injuries.
