McDonald's has reported a positive case of COIVD-19 among its employees working at the West Orillia location on Highway 12.

An employee at the Orillia McDonald’s on Highway 12 in west Orillia has tested positive for COVID-19.

The last day the employee worked was on April 8. While officials would not comment, the restaurant was closed for cleaning, but was open to the public today.

The case was listed on the McDonald’s company website on April 11.

The website lists the Orillia location under the following: “An employee confirmed case of COVID-19 in our restaurants which results in a restaurant closure for cleaning and sanitization by a certified third-party company, by province or territory, in the last 14 days."

The company website says any customers who have visited the restaurant and have questions should take directions from local public health experts.

In order to protect the privacy of employees, the company does not release any personal information.

An official at the Orillia eatery would not comment. Several questions posed to a corporate public relations official were answered with a generic one-sentence response.
