The Simcoe County Environmental Youth Alliance (SCEYA) is a youth-led organization made up of students passionate about the environment. On Saturday, April 17, 2021 at 7 p.m., they will be hosting a virtual workshop, titled A Conversation on Climate Change and Mental Health, led by Dr. Matthew Hoffmann from the University of Toronto.

Dr. Hoffmann will focus the presentation on climate change with a positive lens, how we affect the environment, and what we need to do to combat climate change.

Dr. Hoffmann is a professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Toronto Scarborough and co-director of the Environmental Governance Lab at the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy.

He teaches classes on international relations, global governance, and environmental and sustainability politics. His research on decarbonization, climate change and environmental politics has been published in four books and over 50 journal articles and book chapters.

Professor Hoffmann is also co-editor of the journal Global Environmental Politics and the chair of the board of directors for the environmental NGO, Green Economy Canada.

The approaching workshop is an extension of SCEYA's current #love4water campaign, an online initiative focusing on issues concerning water on local, provincial, national, and international levels.

SCEYA believes that environmental education is the first step toward living in a sustainable future and this workshop is an excellent way to educate viewers of the current wellbeing of our world. This event will be taking place virtually via Google Meet on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at 7 p.m. Anyone interested in attending is encouraged to sign up using the following Google form to register and receive further information.

High school students attending the workshop will also be able to gain up to two volunteer hours just by attending.
