Feministo: a Group Abstract Exhibition opens with a reception at Twig Creative, 6 Peter St. S. in downtown Orillia on Tuesday, July 10, 1-3 p.m. All are welcome to attend.

The ‘Feministo’ Artist Group is composed of four abstract artists – Patti Agapi, Catherine Cadieux, Robyn Rennie and Stephanie Stanton. The name is a play on words, representing ‘Feminine’ and ‘Manifesto’ to provoke the energy of the female artist. They present their first exhibition together at Twig Creative on Peter St. S. for the month of July. In this exhibition, each shares their own personal artistic themes and projections as a woman artist in today’s world, and within the Orillia arts community.

Patti Agapi is a Canadian abstract mixed media artist. Working with paint and collage elements, she creates deeply layered and textured abstract mixed media paintings. Her work explores themes of memory, shadow and transformation. Patti lives in Orillia where she is actively involved in the local arts community as a working artist. She operates a downtown gallery and studio, Mad with Rapture Studio.

Catherine Cadieux is an abstract expressionistic painter. Colour and the environment are the key components fuelling her artistic expression: the changing seasonal palette is fertile artistic ground. The four seasons are such a vital part of Canadian life and in a metaphorical sense are symbolic of our own life cycle. Each season brings vibrancy and meaning into her painting experience. Catherine shows her work on an on-going basis at aRt & Home Studio in downtown Orillia.

Robyn Rennie is a local Orillia abstract mixed media painter. Her work underscores the importance that recording impressions and events have to our shared experience. Robyn often uses iridescent and metallic paints to express the ephemeral quality of an experience; even the slightest shift in point-of-view changes the image's appearance. Severe vision loss has changed how Robyn experiences the world. Seeing beyond vision can open the door to understanding so much of what we assume to be true.

Stephanie Stanton is a Canadian abstract expressionist painter. She creates large canvas works in acrylics and heavy gel mediums. As a main source of inspiration, Stephanie explores her relationship with the colours of the sky and other natural surroundings. Her intense zest for life drives her emotional painting experience. She is an active member of the growing art community in Orillia and surrounding area. Stephanie’s work can be found at her studio and gallery aRt & HOME Studio in downtown Orillia.
