Fire sends mom and two children to hospital (update)

11 a.m. update

OPP officials now say four people were transported to a local hospital with varying degrees of injury that are believed to be related directly to the fire. A 44-year old female victim and the two males aged 11 and seven have sustained serious injuries, while a 17-year-old male has sustained life threatening injuries. All four have since been transported to Toronto area trauma centres for continued medical treatment.

Original 7 a.m. information

Three people have been injured in a fire in Waubaushene. 

Firefighters were called to a home on Neilson Rd. just before 11:30 p.m. Monday night.

OPP Sgt. Peter Leon says a mother and two children, aged 6 and 16, were taken to hospital. 

The mom and 6-year-old suffered non-life threatening injuries but the 16-year-old's condition is listed as serious.

Leon says the Ontario Fire Marshal has been called in to investigate.
