People in Orillia woke up to about ten centimetres of fresh snow Saturday morning, with more in the forecast for the day.

It meant digging out the snow shovel, finding gloves and toques and lots of curse words for those who tried to delay the inevitable.
But for those who didn't enjoy what they saw when they opened the curtains, be thankful you don't live north of Orillia. Some areas up Highway 11 have already received upwards of 100 centimetres of the white stuff, said local amateur weather watcher David Brain. That is 30 to 50 per cent of their average seasonal snowfall, he noted.

While travel in town isn't too bad, OPP are advising people not to travel up north. A post on X this morning advises motorists to avoid Highway 11 near the Bethune Drive exit in Gravenhurst due to poor driving conditions.
