A bit of new and a bit of old will mix together to comprise the new Ramara Township council.

Incumbents Basil Clarke and John O’Donnell made it back to the table as mayor and deputy mayor, respectively, while Kal Johnson was re-elected as Ward 5 councillor.

The three familiar faces will be working with four new colleagues come the first council meeting in December. David Snutch, Joe Gough, Ted Lamb and Gary Hetherington are the new councillors for Wards 1, 2, 3 and 4.

“I'm very happy to see that I've won,” said Clarke, after taking a look at the numbers. “I look forward to bringing the new team together. It looks like we have some great councillors.”

New to council, Hetherington, said he couldn’t believe the results.

“I'm still overwhelmed to be honest,” he said. “I won with a difference of four votes.”

John O’Donnell was pleased with the results and said he is looking forward to getting back to work on some key issues for the township.

“I would like to bring natural gas into places like Plum Point, Bayshore, Lagoon City, and up into Brechin into the industrial park,” he said. “We need the natural gas to bring economic stability to our township.”
