NEWS RELEASE
ROTARY ORILLIA
*************************
Each month, the Rotary Club of Orillia honours a top student from each of Orillia's secondary schools. Honourees for the month of March are Jamie Couvrette of Twin Lakes, Julia Bonsu of Twin Lakes, Rhyan Hawke of Orillia Secondary School (OSS) and Anner Yep of Patrick Fogarty (PF).

Jaime Couvrette

If there is an athletic event happening at Twin Lakes, Jaime Couvrette has more than likely organized it, kept score, played in it or promoted it. She is currently the president of the Athletic Council. Last year, she helped to run the 24-hour Volleyball-a-thon. In addition, she maintains great marks and is an extremely caring individual.

Julia Bonsu

Julia Bonsu (also of Twin Lakes) is Vice Prime Minister of Student Council. In 2018, while she was Charitable Affairs Minister, she planned a school-wide fun day to help raise money and awareness for mental health services. She has taken a leadership role on the Relay for Life Committee, is a member of LINK crew, and has participated in many athletic teams. She maintains a high honour roll status, is always willing to help others and is described as kind, caring, fun, selfless and creative.

Rhyan Hawke

Rhyan Hawke (OSS) is a Grade 12 student who participated in the high school exchange program in Germany. She lived abroad for three months and is now fluent in German. She is passionate and involved in educating the student body on the advantages of student exchanges. Rhyan is a leader within the International Club. She has also been instrumental in applying for the Speak-Up Grant, to get a sign that welcomes students to OSS in their native languages.

Anner Yep

Anner Yep (PF) has maintained an average of well over 90 per cent throughout her senior years of high school. She is involved in many extra-curricular activities including playing the timpani in the school's award-winning Senior Band. Anner is head of the Relay for Life Committee. This past summer, Anner was accepted into the prestigious Harvard University Secondary School Program. She spent seven weeks at Harvard University studying philosophy, neuroscience and acting. She is currently completing a co-op placement with the City of Orillia’s Economic Development Department.

Congratulations to all four of these remarkable students!
