Freezing rain warning in effect for:
- Barrie - Collingwood - Hillsdale
- Midland - Coldwater - Orr Lake
- Orillia - Lagoon City - Washago
Significant freezing rain beginning this afternoon.
A large low pressure area continues to deliver a mix of precipitation this weekend. Ice pellets are expected to redevelop this morning then change to freezing rain this afternoon. It should persist for many hours before changing to rain tonight.
Ice accumulations combined with strong northeast winds up to 70 km/h will likely result in some power outages due to fallen tree limbs and power lines.
Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots will become icy, slippery and hazardous. Beware of branches or electrical wires that could break under the weight of ice.
